ALUMNUS SPOTLIGHT: CHRIS GUTHREY, PSYD.
Recent 2015 graduate Dr. Chris Guthrey, PsyD. has found success in a new practice in Asheville, North Carolina. Whether hosting individual sessions or weekly group support meetings, Chris specializes with people who want to improve their lifestyle and overall sense of wellness to be healthier and happier mentally, physically and spiritually.
Says Chris “I use a combination of “socratic questioning” (questions to guide insight from within), mindfulness techniques and collaborative problem solving when useful to help you in whatever circumstances brought you to seek support.
Mindfulness techniques help slow down thoughts and reactions and is about deepening awareness and acceptance of your current experience. In therapy we can take this a step further and practice how to use this to gain greater self-acceptance, peace and insight about how to move forward.”
